IPL 2025 Team Preview — Mumbai Indians
Squad Strengths
Mumbai Indians enter IPL 2025 with arguably the strongest pace attack in the tournament. Jasprit Bumrah remains the crown jewel — his death bowling economy of 7.65 is the best in IPL history among fast bowlers with 50+ matches. Complemented by quality seamers, MI can defend any total at pace-friendly venues.
Batting Firepower
Rohit Sharma continues to lead the charge. His powerplay strike rate of 142.8 makes him one of the most destructive openers in T20 cricket. Suryakumar Yadav at 3-4 provides the innovative strokeplay that can shift momentum in a matter of balls.
The Hardik Factor
Hardik Pandya at 5-6 is MI's trump card. His ability to clear the ropes in the death overs (death SR: 178.9) and contribute 2-3 overs of pace bowling makes him the most valuable all-rounder in the IPL.
Areas of Concern
Spin bowling remains the Achilles' heel. MI lack a world-class spinner who can control the middle overs on slow pitches. On Chennai-type decks, this weakness gets exposed. Their away record on spinning tracks has been below average for the past three seasons.
Our Prediction
MI to finish in the Top 4 and reach the playoffs. At home (Wankhede), they're virtually unbeatable. If they can navigate the away fixtures on slow pitches, a title charge is very much on.
